TimelineJS is a free web-based storytelling tool that highlights the time period of a series of events through a timeline, and an accompanying popup slideshow.

Notable Features

  • Can pull media from a variety of sources (YouTube, Wikipedia, Twitter, etec.)
  • Works off a simple Google spreadsheet

 

Limitations

  • Is not appropriate for non-linear timelines, or timelines that necessitate jumping around events
  • Limited tutorials available
